“The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places.”
– Ernest Hemingway
Let’s get to the core of the problem!
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) lets you do just that.
It’s an accelerated treatment designed to alleviate your fear and sadness from abuse, pain, PTSD, grief, panic, anxiety, depression, or substances.
Francine Shapiro discovered EMDR over 30 years ago, but it’s come to the forefront as an advanced therapy treatment for emotional healing.
Our beliefs about ourselves and the world around us…
Difficult, traumatic experiences change them. And those beliefs affect how we think, feel, and behave – even long after the event.
EMDR helps you move past those experiences so that your mind and body don’t react like the memory is still happening.
You might say, “Well, I don’t have THAT kind of trauma.” But being humiliated or laughed at in front of your fifth-grade class when reading a book report because you were chubby or had a nervous stutter IS a trauma.
Here’s how it works…
During an EMDR session, you’ll talk about a memory that upset you and your negative beliefs surrounding it.
You might be harboring beliefs like, “I’m not good enough,” “I’m not safe,” or “I don’t have anything to offer in relationships.” We’ll shift your perspective toward more positive beliefs like, “I’m okay just as I am,” “I’m safe,” or “It’s over, and I’m okay.”
We’ll do this as you’re guided through a series of eye movements. If you’ve ever felt like struggling, running, or locking up while thinking about those painful memories, EMDR takes out the “fight, flight, or freeze” response.
After reprocessing the memories, my clients tell me they’re no longer afraid, feel lighter, or feel like “a weight has been lifted from their shoulders.”
You can do this!
I am here for you, and I am a compassionate and nonjudgmental therapist. During EMDR therapy, we will work at your own pace. Before our work, we’ll set up resources such as visualizations to help you feel safe and grounded. We’ll enhance those with tapping or eye movements so you’ll feel fully supported. I will encourage you… but I will never force you to talk about a situation you are not ready to share.
If you are ready to break free of your negative beliefs or prior traumatic experiences to change your life positively, call me today – I am prepared to help you!
If you are willing to do the work, your results can be life-changing!
